Jikiden Reiki

What is Jikiden Reiki?

Jikiden Reiki

The word "Jikiden" means "directly passed down" in Japanese. Jikiden Reiki is authentic Japanese Reiki that has not been modified by other cultures or healing methods.

Jikiden Reiki presents the closest to the original teachings of Reiki that is available to the public. These original teachings from the Reiki founder, Mikao Usui, were taught by Chujiro Hayashi to Chiyoko Yamaguchi in 1938. Chiyoko learnt Reiki at the age of 17 and used it daily, for over 65 years, to help others.

In the 1990's, it was thought that there were no surviving practitioners that were using the original Japanese Reiki. Then in 1998, Chiyoko Yamaguchi was discovered. Prominent, international Reiki teachers could not believe that she had been taught by Chujiro Hayashi. These prominent Reiki teachers encouraged Chiyoko and her son to create seminars, based on these original Japanese teachings, before they were lost forever.

Chiyoko and her son, Tadao Yamaguchi, formed and founded the Jikiden Reiki Institute in 1999, to preserve and allow these teachings to be accessible worldwide, for anyone interested in learning traditional Japanese Reiki. The Jikiden Reiki seminars are taught in the same way that they were taught by Chujiro Hayashi in the 1930's.

Reiki Lineage

Mikao Usui - (1865-1926)

In 1922 he discovered Reiki and for the remaining four years of his life, he taught over 2000 people. Twenty of these students became Shihans (Teachers) and Chujiro Hayashi was one of them.

Chujiro Hayashi - (1879-1940)

He was a naval physician and became a Captain in the Japanese Navy. He practiced Reiki in his Tokyo clinic and taught classes throughout Japan. He is recognized for his great contribution to bring Reiki outside of Japan, to Hawaii, which allowed Reiki to spread to the rest of the world.

Chiyoko Yamaguchi - (1921-2003)

Chiyoko learnt Reiki at the age of 17. She was surrounded by many family members, friends and neighbours who were Reiki teachers and practitioners. Reiki was a natural part of life for her. Chiyoko practiced Reiki daily for over 65 years. She founded the Jikiden Reiki Institute with her son, Tadao, and created the seminars based on the original teachings, verified notes, documents and photos.

Tadao Yamaguchi

As founder of Jikiden Reiki Institute, Tadao teaches Jikiden Reiki seminars in Japan. Since 2000, he has continued to travel and teach Jikiden Reiki seminars throughout the world.

Teresa Krehel

In 2013, Teresa became a certified Shihan (teacher) with the Jikiden Reiki Institute, by Tadao Yamaguchi.

Testimonials

"I so appreciate the fact that I have gotten to know you and discovered that your Reiki is for me. A session with you is as relaxing as a day at our cabin (just a note that a trip to the cabin is a lot of preparation, coming to see you ... I just show up ... Thank-you!!"

"My first ever reflexology treatment was with Teresa and what a great choice she was! The studio was a quiet and relaxing place to be. My comfort and ease was most important to Teresa while I was there. The encouraged silence during the treatment was appreciated too, enabling me to fully relax. The pressure used during the reflexology was firm yet gentle. I did not know what to expect during a session and enjoyed the whole process. I left feeling very pampered and calm. Thank-you for a very pleasant introduction to reflexology. I can certainly see the benefits!"

"The class gave me a whole new appreciation for Reiki, a deeper more profound experience. I highly recommend Teresa as a Jikiden Reiki teacher!"

"I had an amazing time learning and practicing Reiki for the first time. Thank you for instilling in me the importance of those practicing before us. Your deep respect for Usui Sensei, Mr Hayashi and Mrs Yamaguchi was felt and shared so openly and lovingly. This was something that I hadn’t thought about before deciding to do this program and now I think about them all the time especially when I start to practice on others. My series of Reiju were quite powerful. The Gokai helped me ...Saying out loud and emphasizing Just for Today gives me strength to face the day just as it is. Thanks again Teresa, I appreciate everything you taught me; spoken and unspoken!!"

"My experience with Reiki was a surprise.
I was used to hands on therapy so didn’t know what to expect from a therapy that didn’t “touch" me.
I went to the session with back pain that had not completely healed from the 3 fractures in my back and 3 broken ribs.
I had a session with Teresa that was warm and gentle and to my surprise, very healing.
My back felt better than it had in months. The fear I was holding on to, to protect my back, was gone.
Teresa is an amazing intuitive therapist that I completely trust."
